MIC Forum 2013
April 19, 2013Washington, DC

The MIC Forum gives high-level officials from Middle Income Countries (MICs) the opportunity to focus on key issues, knowledge, and experience relevant to MICs and the World Bank’s agenda.

This year, the third MIC Forum is being held in April 2013, and will be an open dialogue among senior officials of Middle Income Countries and the World Bank on the implications of the remarkable process of social transformation associated with the rise of the middle class.  Drawing on the recent report, Economic Mobility and the Rise of the Latin American Middle Class, the World Bank will present insights on the nature and determinants of a growing middle class. Following this, a distinguished panel of senior MIC officials will provide perspectives and experiences on the critical policy challenges to support large segments of the population to achieve a more secure middle-class lifestyle.

Held in April 2012, the first MIC Forum provided an opportunity for senior middle-income country officials to discuss and share experiences around how to link policies to address the short-term challenge of job creation with longer-term strategies to support competitiveness and inclusive growth and contribute to a stable world economy. The second MIC Forum, held in September 2012, revolved around a conversation with World Bank President Jim Kim.
