Tales of Hope and Resilience: Support to Displaced Rohingya and Local Communities in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh

Since 2017, Bangladesh has provided shelter to more than a million Rohingya people who have fled violence in Myanmar. The influx has placed enormous pressure on local infrastructure and stretched service delivery in Cox’s Bazar, one of the poorest districts in Bangladesh. The World Bank has committed $590 million in grant resources for Bangladesh for five projects to address the needs of displaced Rohingya people until their safe, voluntary and dignified return to Myanmar and host communities. The support covers health, informal education, social safety nets, disaster preparedness, prevention of gender-based violence and basic service delivery.
