Wendy Mendes


Wendy Mendes leads the client investment partnerships for all internal partners and external clients.

This includes coordinating IMD's input to investment policy, developing model portfolio strategy and managing sector allocation for total return portfolios, developing new investment products, assessing and designing investment frameworks and policies, as well as oversight, control and development of portfolio management platform, architecture, trading procedures and legal agreements.

Prior to assuming this role, Ms. Mendes was Head of the US Fixed Income Team responsible for the risk and investment strategies of all the USD fixed income portfolios for both World Bank Group partners and external clients. Wendy joined the World Bank Investment Management Department in 1997 and has over 21 years of investment management experience. Prior to joining the Bank, Ms. Mendes worked for the Bank of England for eight years in a number of monetary policy areas. For four years, she was a senior portfolio manager in the Reserves Management Department, which included being head of liquidity management and a one-year secondment to the UK Treasury.

Ms. Mendes has a BSc. in Pure Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Bath University, England.
