Rahul Kitchlu


Mr. Rahul Kitchlu is the Manager for the Operationalization Unit within the Climate Change Group of the World Bank. Rahul provides strategic guidance and overall leadership to the Unit that engages on mainstreaming climate action within the World Bank’s lending operations. This includes supporting the development, implementation, and reporting of the World Bank’s climate policies and priorities, such as, implementation of the World Bank’s Climate Change Action Plan and alignment with the Paris Agreement.

Mr. Kitchlu has over two decades of professional experience working globally on issues related to climate, finance, infrastructure, and energy, with expertise in developing and implementing infrastructure decarbonization and resilience programs, supporting policy and sector reforms for effective service delivery, and establishing impactful public-private partnerships.

Mr. Kitchlu joined the World Bank as a Young Professional in 2010 and has since held several technical and managerial positions within the institution and has held country-office assignments in Africa and East Asia and the Pacific Regions. Mr. Kitchlu received his academic training from the University of New Brunswick in Canada, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Harvard University in USA. Prior to joining the World Bank, Mr. Kitchlu worked in finance, technology, and consulting industries.
