IFC is a leading investor in the waste management sector in emerging markets; providing solutions across the whole value chain; from waste collection and transfer; to recycling; composting; energy recovery and residual waste disposal in sanitary landfills. To date; IFC has committed and mobilized $1.5 billion to waste management projects around the world; with a focus on projects that enable value creation from waste.Within its mandate to support sustainable infrastructure development; IFC is committed to helping cities and private sector stakeholders transition from conventional waste management systems toward integrated; smart circular economy approaches. As part of its efforts to remain up to date with the latest technology developments and market dynamics in the solid waste sector; IFC is looking to appoint a specialist consultant (“the Consultant”) to conduct in-depth research and prepare a practical; data-driven publication on digitalization across the solid waste management value chain. The objective is to provide strategic and technical insights into how digital technologies can support waste collection; sorting; recycling; treatment; and disposal systems with a primary (but not limited) focus in emerging market contexts.
