This Request for Expressions of Interest is for the recruitment of a consultancy firm to design; pilot; and monitor an edutainment application (hereafter app) to be used in adolescent girls’ safe spaces as well as a digital platform aimed at the female mentors facilitating the safe spaces sessions. The edutainment app will be used in 120 secondary schools located in 9 of the 14 districts of Côte d’Ivoire. We expect the project to reach approximately 150 adolescent girls of grade 6-8 (6ème to 4ème) per school during this period. The edutainment app will share educational digital content to conduct the sessions of safe spaces administered by female mentors starting from February 2024 in schools eligible to the SWEDD (Sahel Women Empowerment and Demographic Dividend) project. The app will be used on tablets that will rotate between groups of adolescent girls during the safe space sessions; and its use will be monitored by the mentors. The app will cover key parts of the SWEDD curriculum for each module; in a way that maximizes learning; memorization; and interest of the adolescent girls; in an aim to achieve behavioral change. The curriculum covers topics including life skills (self-awareness; self-esteem; stress management; peer pressure; decision making and leadership); sexual and reproductive health (contraceptives; HIV; STDs; menstrual hygiene); gender norms; gender stereotypes; nutrition; gender-based violence and women and children’s rights. In addition; the Firm will create a digital platform aimed specifically at mentors to be used on personal mobile phone devices; to strengthen their knowledge of the curriculum.More specifically; the selected Firm will be responsible for (i) creating and piloting an edutainment app adapted from the SWEDD curriculum and a digital platform aimed at mentors; (ii) training the mentors for ensuring a correct use of the app and the tablets; (iii) distributing the tablets and monitoring the use through monitoring data; and (iv) providing technical assistance.
