To enhance the competitiveness of the plastic recycling sector in Thailand; this study focuses on developing innovative business models for what are termed as recycling hubs. These hubs encompass centralized processing centers (referred to as hubs) and associated facilities (as “spokes”); with a particular emphasis on material recovery facilities; which work in tandem to feed the collected recyclables to the main hubs. The study seeks to support the implementation of both planned and potential recycling hubs. More specifically; the objectives of the study are:i: To determine strategic success factors and associated risks for the business models; both with and without associated facilities; to mitigate potential investment risks in the recycling hubs;ii: To establish a structured and well-defined framework for data governance for the plastic recycling sector to ensure effectiveness and transparency; as well as data privacy and security;iii: To provide policy recommendations for creating an environment that promotes plastic circularity; which may include regulatory changes; incentives; investments; and other measures.
