This consultancy intends to assess the opportunities for women the shipping and ports decarbonization efforts in Türkiye. The study seeks to understand the obstacles women face in joining and contributing to the decarbonization efforts in the maritime industry. Additionally; the study seeks to identify effective strategies for removing or mitigating barriers and risks that hinder women's involvement during the decarbonization process.The proposed activity includes a knowledge report presenting the study’s findings. It will incorporate a guide outlining successful strategies and best practices for increasing female participation and representation in decarbonizing shipping and ports. Additionally; the report will offer recommendations for establishing a legal framework that ensures gender equality and safeguards against gender-specific risks during the decarbonization process.Ultimately; the objective is to foster a gender-focused perspective in the decarbonization discussion and promote greater long-term retention of female participation in the shipping sector. By recognizing and addressing the unique challenges women face; this consultancy seeks to encourage and support an inclusive and diverse approach to decarbonizing the maritime industry in Türkiye.
