In Nicaragua, IFC is working with a coffee exporting company to create an environmentally friendly Robusta production industry on the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua, working with producers in regions that use degraded pastures, rather than new land.  IFC is seeking a local firm (the "Contractor") to implement a technical training program with producers who sell their coffee to the Client, located in selected communities on the Caribbean Coast. The program will implement in-person training and will pilot different strategies that recognize performance and commitment to the Client to ensure the long-term supply of coffee. It is estimated that the Contractor will begin work in June 2023, prioritizing training activities for the 2023/24 harvest and post-harvest 2024. The selected Contractor must be based in Managua, Nicaragua and have sufficient local personnel with technical experience in coffee production and relevant skills to carry out the activities mentioned above. The following criteria are required:- Minimum of 10 years of experience in agricultural research and technical assistance.- Knowledge in coffee production (Robusta) and previous experience working with highly desirable private sector agricultural companies.- Ideally, the technical team proposed by the Contractor should have an advanced degree in agronomy or another similar, specifically applied to Nicaragua, in matters of coffee production. Staff presence on the Caribbean Coast, knowledge of the region and familiarity with the cultural context highly desirable.- Knowledge of IFC methodologies highly desirable. If possible, the Contractor will present a gender balance (men and women) within the team to carry out the activities.
