IFC is developing a Building Resilience Index to help building developers assess and report location-specific climate change related risks and risk mitigation measures that address these risks.

IFC is developing a Building Resilience Index to help building developers assess and report location-specific climate change related risks and risk mitigation measures that address these risks. The online tool will enable common understanding and assessment tool to connect public and private efforts through common principles, risk mapping, mitigation measures, crowd-sourcing functionality and continuous improvement of data. The scope of work will include developing a mobile and cloud first application with global reach, enabling hazard data for all locations, serving multiple personas. App shall deliver highest quality of data with high security and providing confidence to users. The most sophisticated hazard models at the fingertip of homeowners, developers and bankers. Enabling millions of users, millions of projects and data inputs but the UI shall be simple to use.

The Product development will follow incremental implementation strategy and roadmap, with delivery of MVP of key epics and enablers listed below with defined timelines. The detailed scope of services and technical, functional and non-functional requirements are presented in the “TECHNICAL AND FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS” section. Future needs are not part of the scope of work however program should to be developed with future needs in mind to reduce the cost of redoing the app. Key ‘must haves’: GIS risk mapping to be used as the core of the application.

There will be three phases of delivery, phase one by June 2021, Phase 2 by December 2021 and Phase 3 by June 2022. The future development plans are key to ensure that development are creating the base for future developments. Image below shows the sub tasks under each phase.
