With regard to a statement recently circulated on social media, the Government’s guarantee to the National Bank of Moldova in November 2014 for losses incurred due to bank fraud did not follow the advice/recommendations of the World Bank. Moreover, the World Bank was not aware of the Government’s intentions regarding the guarantee until the guarantee was already in effect.
