About the Program

PROGREEN supports sustainable forest management and agriculture while tackling declining biodiversity, deforestation, poverty reduction and climate related risks, to help countries meet national and global sustainable development goals in a cost-effective manner.

PROGREEN builds on the Program on Forests (PROFOR) partnership. Housed at the World Bank from 2002-2020, PROFOR implemented over 270 activities to help improve understanding of forest livelihoods, governance, and finance, and how other sectors impact forests.

What is PROGREEN?

PROGREEN supports countries’ efforts to improve livelihoods of the rural poor while tackling climate change, loss of biodiversity and forests, deteriorating land fertility, and uncontrolled forest fires.
