Improving Access to Services and Economic Opportunity for Roma in North Macedonia

North Macedonia’s Roma population is the country’s poorest community. 87% of the country’s Roma live in material deprivation—compared to 55% among the non-Roma population, and Roma children are three times more likely to grow up in poverty. Addressing these inequalities and empowering the Roma is crucial for building more inclusive and resilient economic growth. The World Bank is supporting the government of North Macedonia in implementing reforms and making investments that advance social inclusion and equal opportunities for all citizens, including the Roma community.
