Arapbai Kamarov—the director of a water user association in Osh, Kyrgyz Republic—talks about how a GAFSP-financed and World Bank-supported project helped rehabilitate irrigation works to ensure timely delivery of water to local farmers. Improving water security is essential for these communities, which is why the Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP)—a partnership between the World Bank, European Union, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom—is analyzing the performance of the region’s irrigation sector to further develop cooperation between the World Bank and governments across Central Asia to strengthen services for farmers.
