Planting Trees, Restoring Landscapes in Central Asia

Green spaces are vital to any city’s development—filtering air, helping combat climate change by sequestering carbon from emissions, providing a respite during hot summer months, and much more. In celebration of Earth Day 2022, the World Bank Group office for Central Asia in Almaty, Kazakhstan came together to plant 100 ash trees to make a statement about the course of our work over the coming years in Kazakhstan and the wider region. Green and resilient growth and recovery will remain high on the World Bank’s agenda in Central Asia and beyond, and we will continue to build on 30 years of partnership with Kazakhstan to create a more sustainable future for its people.
