The concept of the āBlue Pacificā has united Pacific countries under a social and economic vision that transforms them from Small Island States to āBig Oceanā nations. Yet long-term stresses such as climate change and shocks including COVID-19, cyclones and other disasters are impacting lives across the Pacific region, highlighting the need for action to preserve and protect ocean resources, fisheries, coastal and marine habitats, and the people whose livelihoods depend on them.The World Bankās US$74 million Pacific Islands Regional Oceanscape Program (PROP) is working with seven countries and one regional organization in an effort improve sustainable ocean-based livelihoods.
