Partnerships for successful stunting reduction across Sub-Saharan Africa

Stunting is a significant impediment to physical and cognitive development. Its long-term impact affects individuals and societies, leading to large economic losses through healthcare spending, lowered educational attainment, labor productivity, and overall human capital development. Although irreversible, stunting is largely preventable through the scale up of strategic programs targeting maternal and child nutrition and development in the first 1,000 days, from conception to a child’s second birthday. The World Bank and Power of Nutrition are partnering with Governments in Rwanda, Madagascar, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Cote d'Ivoire, and beyond, to leverage high level commitment, providing support and resources to reduce stunting.
