In Kazakhstan, municipal buildings have among the highest energy consumption, per unit area, in the world. The Kazakhstan Energy Efficiency project, supported by the World Bank, has proved very successful in its design and implementation, and could potentially be scaled-up at the national level, in line with Kazakhstan’s strategies and targets, to reduce energy consumption and improve performance in most sectors, including public services.
