00:36 tell us a bit about the World Bank's program on urban resilience and land.

00:43 So the World The Bank is the premier

00:46 multilateral development agency involved in

00:48 financing issues of urban development,

00:51 disaster risk management,

00:52 and land.

00:53 We have a portfolio of upwards of 7 to $8 billion of new lending every year

01:00 and an amount of total commitments of about $30 billion.

01:04 We help finance cities that are green and livable,

01:08 that are inclusive,

01:10 resilient,

01:11 and competitive.

01:13 We help work on supporting governments,

01:16 put in place systems for disaster risk management and disaster risk reduction,

01:20 and then we help mainstream systems of strengthening

01:24 land governance and land tenure

01:26 so that you can improve the percentage of the population that have access to secure

01:32 land and tenure and improve asset management as well.

01:35 So that's what we do across the portfolio of urban development,

01:38 disaster risk management,

01:39 and land.

01:41 Now at the World Urban Forum,

01:43 which is,

01:45 uh,

01:45 the place where urbanists from across the world congregate every two years,

01:50 what,

01:50 what are we in the world from the World Bank going to be doing there?

01:53 So we are going to be leading a couple of events.

01:58 One

01:59 relates to the theme of the World Urban Forum,

02:02 which is about

02:03 culture,

02:03 creativity,

02:04 and urban development.

02:05 We're going to have an event

02:06 to showcase the new work that we're starting to do on creative cities,

02:10 and we're going to have another event

02:13 around the launch of our flagship report

02:16 on the development of lagging regions in the Middle East and North Africa.

02:20 At the same time,

02:21 because we're going to be there for this period,

02:22 we have also reached out to our various counterparts and

02:26 So we have reached out to them and we are working with them

02:29 to partner on the launch of their events

02:32 to contribute

02:33 or to co-lead with the organization.

02:36 Another one,

02:37 of course,

02:37 given the theme on culture is UNESCO,

02:39 which is a long standing partner of ours.

02:41 So we are going to be working to co-lead their engagements

02:45 as well.

02:47 What is our goal?

02:48 What would we hope to achieve

02:50 when we come out of the World Urban Forum,

02:52 given that this is the premier venue for urban development

02:56 globally with about 25,000 stakeholders and city leaders participating.

03:01 The first objective for us is obviously to work with our clients,

03:04 the mayors,

03:05 the ministers of urban development,

03:07 and the various

03:09 local government officials

03:11 to help them advance basically the development of cities that are resilient,

03:15 inclusive.

03:16 And competitive

03:17 so that we can contribute towards our twin goals of fighting poverty

03:21 and boosting shared prosperity,

03:23 i.e. reducing the inequities.

03:25 But also for us it's a great opportunity to interface as well with civil society,

03:30 with academia,

03:31 with our development partners,

03:33 many of whom we work to basically coordinate

03:36 our investments to harmonize what we do,

03:39 to leverage each other so that we can deliver

03:41 better solutions and contribute to making cities much more sustainable.
