Myanmar Country Environmental Analysis: Solid Waste Management

Did you know an average Myanmar person is responsible for 0.56kg/cap/day of waste generation? That’s 28.850 tons per day and 10.5 million tons of municipal waste per year. In Myanmar, typically waste management is a full public service, except for waste separation activities by the informal sector. Insufficient collection coverage and cleanliness have led to key environmental and operational issues, such as landfills that are almost at their full capacity and toxic waste components.
