The Afghanistan Rural Enterprise Development Program (AREDP) is providing employment opportunities and income support to rural communities across 5 provinces. Halima for instance, now owns a poultry farm and a cow with support from the program. Her neighbors Fatima and Sakina have their own sewing businesses and train students on useful skills. The women are also trained in bookkeeping and accounting, learn to manage their own businesses and support one another. Funded by the World Bank and the Afghanistan Reconstruction Trust Fund (ARFT), the program is providing economic independence to thousands of women across Afghanistan.
