Despite recent advances, stigmatization and discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity remain rampant. When people are excluded because of who they are or who they love, everyone misses out: the lost productivity associated with employment discrimination, for instance, has real economic and social impacts. To end poverty and boost shared prosperity, we need to make sure that everyone can reap the benefits of development—that includes Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex people (LGBTI).
