10 Years After the Tsunami Struck Aceh

In December 26, 2004, a large tsunami struck Aceh in Indonesia causing an enormous casualty and destruction - 220,000 people were killed and 635,000 displaced. An international multi-donor partnership with the World Bank as the trustee helped the reconstruction, with the Aceh people leading the process. Now, 10 years after, Aceh is better prepared to face disasters and offers greater opportunities to engage in economic and social life.
