The World Bank's first country manager in Myanmar after 25 years, Kanthan Shankar, completes his assignment. In this video recording, he walks to Bogyoke Market and Shwedagon Pagoda and reflects on the pace of the rapidly changing country and its growing economy. Over the past two years alone, the World Bank was able to support job creation through micro financing, helping poor students with stipends, providing assistance in public financial management, and more. "I feel so privileged to work in a country where my father was born and where my grandfather worked," he says,"If my father were alive, he would have been so proud that his son would come back to the place of his birth to contribute to the development of this great country,"
