WASHINGTON, October 13, 2022 — Today, World Bank Group President David Malpass met with Brahim Djamel Kessali, Minister of Finance of Algeria.
President Malpass and Minister Kessali discussed the positive economic momentum in Algeria. President Malpass noted the importance of using this momentum to diversify sources of economic growth, enable private sector development, and create jobs for the youth. President Malpass was glad to affirm the World Bank Group’s (WBG) readiness to provide financial and non-financial assistance to Algeria on all of these fronts.
President Malpass and Minister Kessali also discussed Algeria’s energy transition process and fragility challenges in Africa. President Malpass highlighted the importance of regional cooperation for knowledge sharing on new technologies and approaches as well as for inclusive growth.
