Readout from World Bank Group President David Malpass’s Meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister Davlatali Said of Tajikistan

WASHINGTON, April 19 – Today, World Bank Group President David Malpass met with First Deputy Prime Minister Davlatali Said of Tajikistan.

President Malpass thanked Deputy Prime Minister Said for the country’s hospitality toward World Bank Group (WBG) Kabul office staff, and expressed his thanks for Tajikistan’s continued support for Afghan nationals working for the WBG.

President Malpass and Deputy Prime Minister Said spoke on the war in Ukraine and the WBG’s commitment to helping the people of Tajikistan address its economic and social impacts. President Malpass affirmed to Deputy Prime Minister Said the WBG’s focus on social protection measures, strengthening of crisis resilience, and promoting private sector development in its efforts.

President Malpass and Deputy Prime Minister Said also discussed Tajikistan’s energy sector, the regional power project, and WBG technical assistance for further sustainable development of the Rogun Hydropower Plant (HPP).
