Readout from World Bank Group President David Malpass’s Meeting with Nasser Shraideh, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, and Mohamad Al-Ississ, Minister of Finance, of Jordan

WASHINGTON, September 23, 2021—This afternoon, World Bank Group President David Malpass met with Nasser Shraideh, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, and Mohamad Al-Ississ, Minister of Finance, of Jordan.

President Malpass thanked Jordan for playing an important role in hosting and providing health and educational services to more than 3 million refugees from the region. He also commended Jordan for its successful cash transfer program, and noted the importance of pro-growth reforms that stimulate private sector activity.

President Malpass and Ministers Shraideh and Al-Ississ discussed shared development priorities, including creating a business climate that enables private sector growth, job creation, energy sector sustainability, and regional integration.

President Malpass looks forward to continuing discussions with Jordanian authorities and the private sector on his trip to Amman next week.
