NEW YORK, September 20 – Today, World Bank Group President David Malpass met with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre of Norway.
President Malpass and Prime Minister Støre discussed the impact of the war in Ukraine and reconstruction needs. President Malpass emphasized to Prime Minister Støre the importance of non-fragmentation of aid for Ukraine and encouraged international coordination on reconstruction efforts.
President Malpass and Prime Minister Støre also addressed Europe’s energy realignment, and the need to strengthen the grid as a key step toward greater use of renewable energy. President Malpass and Prime Minister Støre spoke on energy transition efforts in developing countries and opportunities for impactful renewable energy projects. President Malpass mentioned to Prime Minister Støre the World Bank’s new Country Climate and Development Reports (CCDRs), which aim to integrate climate and development and identify mitigation and adaptation priority projects at the country level.
