World Bank Announces Public Issue of Belgian Francs 5 Billion

The World Bank and Generale de Banque S.A., today signed in Washington, D.C. an Underwriting Agreement for a public issue of 7.25 percent Belgian Franc bonds, due August 28, 1996.

The issue totaling BFr 5 billion (about $115 million) has been offered at par for public subscription in Belgium. The yield to subscribing investors is 7.12 percent on a semi-annual basis.

A syndicate headed by Generale de Banque has fully underwritten the bonds. Other members include: Banque Bruxelles Lambert, Kredietbank, Banque Paribas Belgique, Credit Communal de Belgique, Banque Degroof, Caisse Generale d'Epargne et de Retraite and CERA Banque d'Epargne.

This issue is the fifth public offering of bonds by the World Bank in the Belgian capital market.
