World Bank Announces First Public Offering in Luxembourg

Banque Internationale a Luxembourg, S. A. and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank) today announced the first public offering of bonds by the Bank in the Luxembourg capital market, a Luxembourg Francs 1 billion (about US$ 18 million) five-year issue bearing interest at the rate of 10.25%, payable annually on June 15. The bonds will be offered at par.

This issue of bonds has been fully underwritten by a syndicate headed by Banque Internationale a Luxembourg S.A. Other members of the underwriting syndicate are: Banque Generale du Luxembourg, S.A.; Krediet-bank S. A. Luxembourgeoise; Caisse d'Epargne l'Etat, Luxembourg; Banque Nationale de Paris (Luxembourg) S. A.; Credit Industriel d'Alsace et de Lorraine, Luxembourg; Credit Lyonnais, Luxembourg; Societe Generale Alsacienne de Banque, Luxembourg· Banque Indosuez, Luxembourg; Banque de l'Union Europeenne (Luxembourg) S.A.; Societe Europeenne de Banque, S.A., Luxembourg; Banque UCL, S.A., Luxembourg; and, Credit Europeen, Luxembourg.
