World Bank Announces Private Placement of SwF 300 Million Notes

The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank) has offered a private placement of Swiss Franc Notes in Switzerland through a syndicate of leading Swiss banks and a group of foreign banks domiciled in Switzerland. The banks have offered SwF 300 million (approximately US$134.7 million) of Notes. The Notes have been issued at par. The underwriting group is managed by Union Bank of Switzerland with Credit Suisse and Swiss Bank Corporation as co-managers.

The new private placement is in two tranches. Tranche A for SwF 150 million, to be known as the 5-1/4% Swiss Franc Notes of 1984, due 1987, will mature on March 2, 1987. Interest will be payable annually on March 2. Tranche 8 o~ SwF 150 million, to be known as the 6% Swiss Franc Notes of 1984, due 1990, will mature on March 2, 1990. Interest will be payable annually on March 2.

This will be the thirty-second private placement of the World Ban in Switzerland and will bring the total amount of private placements placed in Switzerland by the World Bank to SwF 7,552 million. Following the full repayment of 12 issues, the principal amount of its outstanding 20 private placements, including the current issue, totals SwF 4,850 million.
