Robert S. McNamara, President of the World Bank, today announced the appointment of Francis R. Poore to the newly created position of Controller and of K. Georg Gabriel as Deputy Controller. The functions of the newly-established Controller's Department were previously handled by the Bank's Treasurer's Department.
Mr. Poore, an American, joined the World Bank in 1947. He served as Assistant Director of Administration, Assistant Treasurer, and Deputy Treasurer before being appointed to his new post.
Mr. Gabriel, from Germany, joined the Bank's Western Hemisphere Department as a loan officer in 1967. Previously he had worked in management consulting and accounting firms.
