Pakistan: Locust Emergency and Food Security Project

WASHINGTON, July 31, 2020 – The World Bank’s Board of Directors approved today the following project:

Locust Emergency and Food Security Project (LEAFS)

IDA Credit: $200 million

Terms: Maturity = 30 years, Grace = 5 years

Project ID: P174314

Program description: The project will support emergency actions to control the locust outbreak and prevent further spread across Pakistan and the South Asia region. It will improve early warning systems by strengthening the Food Security and Nutrition Information System (FSNIS), which is a critical decision-making tool to prevent pest outbreaks and improve national food security.
