WASHINGTON, May 18, 2020 – The World Bank Board of Executive Directors today approved financing for the following project:
Sri Lanka- Integrated Watershed and Water Resources Management Project
IDA loan: $69.53 million, of which
IDA concessional credit: $42.83 million // Terms: Maturity= 30 years; Grace period= 5 years
IDA non-concessional credit: $26.7 million // Terms: Maturity= 30 years; Grace period= 5 years

Project Description: The project aims to improve watershed and water resources planning in Sri Lanka by supporting key water resources management agencies. Irrigation Department, Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka, and Water Resources Board are three government institutions that will benefit from this project. The project will also improve functionality of water resources infrastructure through rehabilitation of dams and canals in seven of the nine provinces—Central, Eastern, North-Western, North-Central, Sabaragamuwa, Northern and Uva.
