Additional Financing for Expanding Rural Finance Project

WASHINGTON, March 28, 2019 - The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors today approved the following project: 

Mexico – Additional Financing for Expanding Rural Finance Project

IBRD Credit: US $400 million equivalent 

Terms: Maturity = 15 years, Grace = 6 years 

Project ID: P169156 

Project Description: The project aims is to increase the availability of finance to the rural economy by expanding credit for rural micro, small, and medium enterprises with a strong focus on women and marginalized areas of the states in the poorer south of Mexico. The  capacity building of the participating private sector financial intermediaries will deepen through the additional financing to offer sustainable finance, including piloting innovative financial solutions, towards activities that promote inclusion, job creation, and poverty reduction in key sectors like agriculture, livestock, forestry, and fishery.
