World Bank Supports Power Supply and Public Financial Management to Improve Health and Education Service Delivery in Pakistan

WASHINGTON, December 19, 2017 - The World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors today approved the following two projects:

 

National Transmission Modernization Project-I

IBRD Loan: US$425 million 

Terms:

Maturity = 21 Years, Grace = 6 Years

Project Description: National Transmission Modernization Project-I will modernize the national transmission system to enable new power generation to reach consumers by upgrading, expanding and rehabilitating selected 500kV and 220kV substations and transmission lines.

 

Public Financial Management

IDA Credit: US$400 million 

Terms:

Maturity = 25 Years, Grace = 5 Years
Project ID: P157507

Project Description: Public Financial Management (PFM) reform program will address these challenges through the enactment of a robust public finance management law, which will lead to decentralization of payment and empower the front-line service delivery managers.
