How Waste Energy in Kenya is a Good Bet

Afrisol Energy is Supported by the World Bank's Climate Technology Program.

This feature is an outcome of infoDev, a multi-donor program administered by the World Bank Group, with a focus on entrepreneurs in developing economies. This piece was originally published on March 10, 2016.

A new company in Kenya is turning all kinds of waste into energy, saving both money and the environment. The new system is changing minds about what is "good" fuel, while the local economy is getting a boost from the alternative energies.

Afrisol Energy is one of the 270 green enterprises supported by the World Bank's Climate Technology Program, an initiative powered by the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Australian Aid), Denmark’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DANIDA), Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
