This event was part of the 2023 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Technological innovations have propelled economies to grow at an unprecedented rate, ushering in new opportunities, jobs, and increased productivity. While economies stand to gain immensely, the rise of the digital economy has presented unique challenges for domestic and international taxation. Appropriate policy frameworks are needed to both harness its economic potential and ensure benefits are distributed equitably. This event will highlight experiences in navigating the taxation landscape and policy responses that require a combination of domestic and international efforts, adaptive national tax policies, and collaboration to ensure fair and effective taxation in the digital era.
