The Africa Natural Capital Accounting Community of Practice (Africa NCA CoP) was officially established on July 1st, 2020, and ever since, the CoP has made progress to provide the much-needed space/platform for African countries to learn, seek or share knowledge and brings together professionals from governments, institutions, nongovernmental organizations and academia that are interested in or working on natural capital accounting (NCA) in Africa.
It is against this background that the first African NCA Policy Forum-is being organized to provide African countries, organizations and interested stakeholders a space to discuss the use of NCA and the challenges and opportunities for NCA tools to inform/support policies in African countries, including green recovery policies from COVID-19 pandemic.
The overall aim of the forum is supporting the mainstreaming of NCA in development planning and green recovery. The forum aims to provide guidance for African countries to improve the use of NCA for policy development, green recovery and better decision making.
Held in the week of May 8th to 11th 2023, the Forum will convene physically in Nairobi, Kenya and will also provide channels for virtual participation.
Registration details and a provisional program for the event to be shared soon.
