Overview

The World Bank is moving quickly to provide fast, flexible responses to help Maldives prevent, detect, and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthen its public health preparedness.  

The new fast track project helps Maldives provide optimum care to patients, procure personal protective equipment and medical supplies, strengthen intensive care and cope with a potential surge in demand, scale up laboratory diagnostic capacity in the capital Male’ and the atolls, support hospitals to maintain essential services, and train medical staff to manage COVID-19 cases while preventing from infections. The project will also support risk communication, community engagement and behavior change.
