Public Consultations for the Systematic Country Diagnostic for Bangladesh

The first SCD for Bangladesh was conducted in 2015, identified job creation as the key development priority for the country. It identified five transformational priorities: energy, inland connectivity, regional and global integration, urbanization, and adaptive delta management.  It also highlighted three foundational priorities—macroeconomic stability, human development, and institutional and business environment—where Bangladesh was doing fairly well and would benefit from continued strong performance in these areas.

Based on bottlenecks identified in the previous SCD and new issues since 2015, the infographic (see below) shows the broad categories of development priorities for Bangladesh for the next five to ten years.

To update the SCD, the World Bank Group will conduct focus group discussions and online consultations in two rounds with a wide range of stakeholders, including government,  private sector, think tanks, civil society organizations, youth, development partners, media, academia, and think tanks.

The World Group launched the first round of consultations. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all consultations sessions were held virtually.
