Davao City Roadshow

Davao records management roadmap workshop
Members of the World Bank Group's (WBG) Records and Information Management (RIM) team conducted a "Roadshow" in Davao City, Philippines on May 30, 2023, at the University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP). The engagement was undertaken in partnership with USeP, a long-time partner of the WBG's Manila Office and a former Knowledge for Development Center in the Philippines.

Over one hundred participants from public and private organizations in Davao City attended the roadshow. Participants represented a very diverse set of organizations, including a contingent from Davao City's Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.

In this event, Executive Director of the National Archives of the Philippines, Mr. Victorino Mapa Manalo, served as Keynote Speaker. Ms. Jennifer B. Dimasaca, Chief of the Bibliographic Services Division of the National Library of the Philippines, and Dr. Lourdes Generalao, President of the University of Southeastern Philippines, were guest speakers.

The workshop had two parts: presentation and speakers in the morning and the workshop proper in the afternoon. During the workshop, participants were asked what their main records management challenges are. The most common response was understaffing and lack of storage space.

Participants were asked to fill out an evaluation at the conclusion of the workshop. The key takeaways were: (i) they found our roadmap very useful; (ii) the roadmap is an effective assessment of an organization's records management practices; and (iii) records management is very important in organizations.

Overall, participants agreed that the roadmap assessment toolkit would be useful for their organization.
