Syed Tauqir Hussain Shah, a Pakistan national, is the World Bank Group Executive Director since November 2023.
Prior to joining the WBG Board, Mr. Shah served as the Principal Secretary to Prime Minister of Pakistan, Government of Pakistan (2022-2023). Throughout his career, Mr. Shah held various positions across international organizations such as Senior Technical Advisor, International Trade Centre; Federal Secretary, Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination; Pakistan’s Ambassador/Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organization; Principal Secretary to Chief Minister of Punjab Province; Advisor on Bonded Labour, International Labour Organization (ILO); National Coordinator, Women Employment Concerns Project, ILO and National Coordinator, Ministry of Women and Social Development, Government of Pakistan (2002-2022). Earlier in his career, he served as Deputy Secretary to Chief Minister Punjab, Government of Punjab (1997-1999).
