Ruslan Piontkivsky is the World Bank’s Senior Country Economist for Papua New Guinea and joined the team in Port Moresby in 2021.
A Ukrainian national, Mr. Piontkivsky was previously a Senior Economist in the Latin America and Caribbean region, as well as serving as a Country Economist for Paraguay, contributing to lending and analytical tasks in the Caribbean. He has also worked as Senior Economist for Moldova, based in Chisinau, and as a Country Economist for Ukraine.
Before joining the World Bank, Mr. Piontkivsky worked at a Ukrainian think-tank. He holds an Masters of Arts in Economics from the EERC program (now Kyiv School of Economics) of the National University of Kyiv Mohyla Academy.
