Phoebe Joined the Enterprise Analysis Unit as an Economist in February 2025. Prior to joining the unit, she was an Economist at the World Bank Poverty and Equity Global Practice and the Latin America and the Caribbean Gender Innovation Lab (LACGIL). Before that, she was a post-doctoral researcher at the Aix-Marseille School of Economics and Freie Universität Berlin. She has also worked as a consultant for the World Bank Middle East and North Africa Chief Economist’s office and the Middle East and North Africa Poverty and Equity Global Practice, where she conducted research on Covid 19 effect on gender employment gap in Egypt’s manufacturing sector. Phoebe holds a Ph. D in Economics from Universität Hamburg. Her research interests include Gender, Labour markets and Natural Resources Economics, and her work has appeared in numerous peer-reviewed academic journals such as Economic Development and Cultural Change, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, World Development, Energy Economics, and Economics & Politics.
