Nikolai Putscher is the World Bank Group Alternate Executive Director representing Germany since October 2019.
Prior to joining the World Bank Group Board, Mr. Putscher served as the Alternate Director for the Euro Area Constituency at the Board of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. He held several positions in the German government including, Minister Counsellor, Deputy Head of Division at the German Embassy in Beijing and Tokyo; Deputy Head of Division and later Acting Head of Division in the Ministry of Finance in Germany. Earlier in his career, he served as Senior Economist in the Ministry of Finance in Germany and as an Economist at the IMF.
Mr. Putscher earned a Bachelor in History and Economy in 1984; and a Master in Economy in 1987 at the Philipps-University of Marburg.
