Mehwish Ashraf is a Senior Economist at the Fiscal Policy and Growth Global Practice of the World Bank and currently serves as the fiscal cluster lead in the Jakarta office.
She joined the World Bank as a consultant in 2011 and has worked as a country economist across two regions — South Asia and West Africa — covering a wide range of economic and development topics. Her most recent assignment was as The Gambia Country Economist based in Banjul. Her regional experience also includes work in Maldives, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Nepal. Prior to joining the World Bank, she worked at the Debt Office of the Ministry of Finance, Government of Pakistan.
A Pakistani national, Mehwish holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Quaid-e-Azam University in Islamabad, Pakistan.
