Joe Qian

Joe Qián believes that investing in people is the foundation of lasting development. As a Senior External Affairs Officer at the World Bank Group, he leads communications campaigns and partnerships that advance human capital, health, and jobs. Working across regions and countries, he helps connect evidence, ideas, and solutions with the partners and audiences needed to expand opportunity and improve lives.

His previous work focused on advancing Human Capital initiatives and enhancing development outcomes across the South Asia region. He holds degrees in Economics and Global Security from Johns Hopkins University and the University of Florida.

Growing up between Shanghai and Tampa, Joe developed a global perspective shaped by curiosity about people, cultures, and ideas. An avid traveler, photographer, and explorer of global cuisines, he believes that understanding different perspectives is essential to fostering inclusion, expanding opportunity, and creating lasting impact.
