Eli Weiss, a Swiss national, joined the World Bank in 2008 as an Economist for the Mexico and Colombia country offices. In 2009, he moved to the Agriculture and Rural Development Unit in Latin America and the Caribbean and managed projects and analytical work since 2010. In 2017, Eli moved to Singapore, working on Eastern Asia and the Pacific, South Asia and Eastern Central Asia countries, including holding the role of Agriculture and Food Program Coordinator for the Philippines from 2019 to 2022. Eli is currently based in Brasilia, Brazil. Prior to joining the World Bank, Eli worked in Peru setting up an agricultural export association; in Nicaragua working on rural microfinance, and with the Swiss Government. Eli holds a MSc in Economics from the University of Lausanne.
