World Bank Group Vice President, People & Culture (PaC)

In her role, Ms. Gaye’s primary responsibilities will be to (i) pivot core PaC practices to enable the future of work in a post-pandemic world; (ii) enable the WBG Global Footprint and deliver in FCV settings; (iii) support implementations of the recommendations of the Taskforces on Mental Health, Workplace Culture and Anti-Racism to increase leadership accountability, promote diversity, equity and inclusion agenda, while enabling a healthy workforce and workplace.

Prior to this, Ms. Gaye was the Vice President and World Bank Group Corporate Secretary.  In that position, she ensured the integrity of the World Bank Group’s governance framework; facilitated effective interaction and dialogue between the Board of Governors, Boards of Executive Directors and Management of the institution; contributed to consensus building among shareholders; and provided support services to the Boards, management and other clients.

A passionate development professional, Ms. Gaye has more than 25 years of experience working as an economist and various leadership roles across different institutions, notably as a director of strategy and operations and on development and policy change in challenging country contexts. She joined the World Bank in 1996 as a Senior Economist, after serving in the Ministry of Economy and Finance in Senegal. She has since held various positions, including Country Director for Kenya, Rwanda, Eritrea and Uganda, Country Director for Sri Lanka and the Maldives (SAR), and as Country Manager for Benin and Togo. From 2007 to 2010, Ms. Gaye served as Regional Director for East African countries at the African Development Bank.
